Hello from the Principal's Office at Oakwood Elementary!
It is still quiet at Oakwood Elementary as I am typing this message; but in just a few short weeks, the voices and sounds of "learning in progress" will fill the halls and classrooms. I can't hardly wait!!
We have a few staff changes at Oakwood Elementary this fall. Mrs. Sarah Pier has retired from her position as 5th/6th grade math teacher, and we wish her the very best in her new path of life. Ms. Emily Austin has transferred from elementary technology teacher to be our 5th/6th grade math teacher. We welcome her full time to Oakwood Elementary! We also welcome Mrs. Tina Grimes who will be teaching technology on Mondays and Tuesdays!
At Oakwood Elementary, we work hard to create a positive learning environment where children grow in academics and in character development. Ohio's Learning Standards are at the core of our teachers' units, lessons, and assessments. Hard work in planning and delivering quality instruction has paid off as we are excited to post that we passed 10 of the 11 Ohio's State Assessments taken in grade 3-6 during the Spring months of 2017. Along with a strong focus on academic education, we feature a new character trait each month to promote character development. We strive to make a positive impact in the life of each child who enters our school, as we look forward to seeing them become productive citizens in our community.
If you have questions about your child's education, please contact your child's teacher or the school office. Children always do better when they know everyone is working to support and care for them.
