Friday, March 12, 2021 - Make-up day for February 5 weather cancellation.  All students and staff will operate on a normal in-person school day.  Future weather cancellations will be remote on a 2-hour delay schedule.  

Friday, March 26, 2021 - Second vaccine for staff with a 2-hour delay schedule for students.  After the delay, Oakwood and Paulding Elementary will have in-person learning, and Paulding Middle and High School will have remote learning.

Paulding FFA Creates Meal Program for Paulding Exempted Village Schools Paulding FFA Creates Meal Program

The Paulding FFA has teamed up with the Children’s Hunger Alliance and various local donors including the Paulding Area Foundation, the Paulding VFW, and the Black Swamp Arbor, to create an evening meal program for students in the Paulding Exempted Village School District who may be in need. The program will start on February 3rd and continue once a week for the remainder of the school year. The meals will always be distributed on Wednesday unless there is a cancellation then it will be Thursday. The program will be called Food for All (FFA) Meals as it was developed by the Paulding FFA program.

On Monday, January 11th students at Paulding Middle School completed the 100% Accountable mindset. As a closing activity, each student was given a handprint and asked to write a goal on it that would help make them 100% accountable for something for the remainder of the school year. Paulding Middle school teacher Elias Jimenez organized a fundraising event at Paulding Middle School to raise money for Christmas For Kids. Kids Eat Free Program Kids Eat Free Program

The USDA has extended several flexibilities with school meal services, until December 31, 2020, or until funds are depleted. Students who attend school in person who choose to eat school breakfast and lunch will not be charged for those meals.  This is wonderful news and will be a great financial relief for families in our school district. This is for grades Preschool through 12 including virtual learning students.  Beginning Thursday, September 17, 2020, through December 31, 2020, breakfast and lunch will be FREE to ALL PRESCHOOL STUDENTS by way of a 5-day meal pickup.  Meal bags are for parent/guardian pick up only, and will not be consumed during school.  Each Meal bag will include a 5 day supply of ready to eat breakfast and lunch meals along with milk.

Preface:  All Ohio schools were ordered to close on March 16, 2020 by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health Director in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  On July 2, 2020 Governor DeWine released the Reset & Restart Planning Guide for all schools in Ohio.  The following statement from the Paulding County Schools’ was created with those recommendations in mind.  This statement is a result of extensive collaboration amongst the three Paulding County Schools, Western Buckeye ESC, and the Paulding County Board of Health.  All parties involved agree that the first priority in reopening schools’ is to make certain our students and staff members are in a safe learning environment. 

Paulding County Schools’ reopening is subject to change throughout the school year during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If mandated, districts are preparing to implement alternative learning environments.

National Youth Advocate Program

NYAP is our school-based therapy program that is continuing to provide service and support to their clients during this difficult time. They are continuing to intake new clients and help with mental health needs throughout the stay at home order via telehealth services. These services are not limited to children, adults, and students from other schools can also be enrolled in services during this troubling time.

PEVS Closed for the Remainder of 2019-2020

On April 13, 2020, Governor DeWine closed all schools in the state of Ohio for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, therefore PEVS will continue with remote/distance learning until the end of this school year. Please contact your child’s principal if you have any questions.

College Credit Plus

Students in current grade 6-11 who are interested in taking College Credit Plus must complete the required counseling with their parents AND submit the intent form by May 1st.  The counseling session is located at the bottom of the High School Guidance page, along with the intent form.  Follow this link to that page

School Closing Announcement

A message from Ken Amstutz, superintendent of Paulding Exempted Village Schools, regarding the school closing:

As you are aware, there are questions and concerns with the coronavirus (COVID-19) as it relates to school operations.  On Thursday afternoon, March 12, Governor DeWine announced at a news conference that all schools will be closed beginning Monday, March 16th through Friday, April 3rd with classes resuming on Monday April 6th.   We are in the process of formulating educational options during this time. Once we have plans in place, your child’s building and/or teacher will be in contact with you.  

Paulding Schools will be closed Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3.  Please feel free to contact my office at 419-399-4656 ext. 1510 if you have questions.

Paulding Exempted Village School recently participated in collecting toys and monetary donations for Christmas for Kids. The students and staff of Paulding Exempted Village schools raised $881.40 for this worthy cause. Paulding Middle School would also like to recognize student council advisors Angela Bellmann and Sarah Steward for organizing this project.

In the picture shown above is Paulding Middle School teacher Cheri Estle presenting at The Ohio School
Improvement Institute. Mrs. Estle’s presentation was titled “Fire all around me, and the water’s been
shut off!” Mrs. Estle’s presentation focused on helping teachers who are overwhelmed by the life-
stresses all around them learn how to channel that stress so they can still be the teachers their students
need them to be. Using humor and life experiences, Mrs. Estle let more than sixty attendees know they
are not alone when they feel overwhelmed by life and there are things they can do to decompress. Mrs.
Estle has been an educator for thirty-five years. She will be greatly missed by Paulding Middle School
when she retires at the end of the current school year.

Students from Paulding 6th grade recently attended a Fort Wayne Tin Caps game. The trip was a third nice week incentive.  Students could not receive a referral, bus write-up, in or out of school suspension, no more that 2 lunch detentions, and had to have passing grades in all classes.

HS & MS Science Olympiad Compete at Regionals

Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team for a great day at Regionals on Saturday, March 9.  Overall the Team placed 8th.  Fantastic job to the whole team!  'Read more' to see the Individual results.

Family Bingo Night Bingo Night

The Paulding Middle School Student Council is sponsoring a Family Bingo Night on Thursday, March 21 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.  Bingo cards are $2 for the first card and $1 for any extras.  Gift cards will be given for prizes.  Drinks will be available for purchase and there will be free snacks.

Congratulations to Paulding 7th grader Sarah Wong who won the Paulding County Spelling Bee by correctly spelling 'galleria'!  Sarah will compete in the Regional Competition on March 9 at 10:00 AM at PFW Rhinehart Recital Hall in Fort Wayne.

Vantage to hold Non-Traditional Career Adventure for 7th & 8th grade Girls

Vantage Career Center staff, students and volunteers will host a Non-traditional Career Adventure for 7th & 8th Girls, Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm. Learn how to weld together pieces of metal to make a small, personalized name plate in the Welding lab.

On Friday, December 7th, Mr. Deisler's Exploring Space students participated in a balloon rocket lab in order to get a better understanding of how rockets work. Prior to the lab, Mr. Deisler and his students discussed Newton's Third Law of Motion and how all rockets are based on this law. The lab the students participated in was designed to help them gain a better understanding of this law and how it applies to rocket science.  Click here to see pictures of the experiment.

COLLEGE CREDIT PLUS: Student's in grades 6-11 interested in taking college classes for the 2019-2020 school year must attend a student-parent meeting held on November 15, 2018 in the Agricultural Education classroom. This meeting will count towards the mandatory counseling that must take place before student's can participate in the program.  Please contact your student's school counselor if you have any questions.

Paulding Mini Flag Football registration forms are available for grades 3-6.  Please click here for the form with details. 


Physical Examinations will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at Paulding High School.  The Ohio High School Athletic Association requires student-athletes to obtain a physical annually in order to participate in any sport.  The cost of the physicals will be $15.00 and the checks need to be made payable to the Paulding County Hospital.  The schedule of physicals are as follows:

High School Boys                   8:00 – 9:30
Jr. High Boys                          9:30 – 11:00
Lunch                                      11:00 – 12:30
High School Girls                   12:30 – 1:30
Jr. High Girls                          1:30 – 3:00

This is the schedule we would like to follow.  However, if any student cannot make it at their scheduled time, or would like to come with a sibling, they can come anytime from 8:00-11:00 or 12:30-3:00

Summer Food Program

The Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission (NOCAC) will be hosting a Summer Food Program again this summer.  This Program provdies FREE Lunches and Activities for children ages 1-18.  Click here for Paulding details and here for Oakwood details.

8th Grade Career Day

Paulding Middle School 8th grade teachers held their annual Career Day on Friday, May 4.  Community members from different fields of expertise came in to share information about their careers with students in order to get a head start on what they may want to do in their future.  Pictured is Paulding County Juvenile and Probate Judge Michael Wehrkamp sharing information about law with 8th grade students. The Paulding FFA held their annual Petting zoo on April 6.  Students and staff from Paulding Elementary through High School had the opportuinity to see, pet and ask questions about large and small animals (pony, donkey, calf, dogs, rabbits, ducklings, chickens, goats, and pigs). The 6th grade Battle of the Books team from Paulding Middle School, took 1st place at the County competition on March 28. Members include (L-R):  Trinity Salazar, Casey Agler, Malia Manz, Carla Manz, Maci Kauser, and Ella Gorrell.  Not pictured - Tytus Manz.  County teams were represented from Paulding, Oakwood, Payne, Antwerp, Grover Hill, and Divine Mercy.  Congratulations!

Paulding High School Drama Department is happy to present ‘The Wizard of Oz’.   After a tornado whisks Dorothy away to the magical land of Oz, young Dorothy Gale, played by senior Abby English teams up with a Scarecrow, (Senior, Brian Matson) a Tin Woodsman, (Junior, Lexie Beckman) and a Cowardly Lion (Senior, Kalen Kelly) to find the mighty Wizard of Oz, (Sophomore, Colin Lilly) who can send her home. Along the way, they must avoid the clutches of the Wicked Witch of the West, (Senior Jacee Harwell) who is trying to steal the mysterious magic slippers that once belonged to her evil sister... but are now on Dorothy's feet. Dorothy eventually learns just how magical friendship can be and how wonderful it can feel to go home again.

Come join us to see this great performance on March 23 and 24 at 7:00 p.m. and March 25 at 3:00pm in the High School Auditeria. Presale tickets will be sold the week of March 19 in the high school office for $8.  All tickets at the door will be $10. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for hors d’oeuvres on Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m on Sunday.

Music of the Night

Music of the Night, the annual fundraiser for the Paulding Bands, will be held on Saturday, April 21, with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m.  The theme this year is, "Exploring the 4th Dimension", featuring music from Star Wars, Back to the Future, Star Trek, Doctor Who, and more!  Dinner from Grant's Catering will be served at 6:00 p.m. and entertainment by the Middle and High School Bands will begin at 7:00 p.m.  A silent auction, 50/50 raffle and a $5 raffle for a FREE week in the Domincan Republic, will also be held.  Please click here for a reservation form, due by April 9, 2018.

Calamity Days / Make-Up Day

As of February 9, 2018, PEVS has had six calamity days.  The scheduled make-up day of Monday, February 19, will now be used as a Professional Development Day for STAFF ONLY.  Students will not be in session on February 19. 
Also, school will not be in session on Friday, February 16, due to Parent/Teacher Conferences.

Students visit Country Living Inn

Middle School Students on the #PantherNation team went to the Country Living Inn for their service/learning day. The kids played BINGO with the residents, and each AAA group made something for each resident. Mr. Arend's AAA made Bird Feeders and filled them with seed, Mrs. Jackson's AAA made Rice Sock Snowmen, Mrs. Estle's AAA made Door/Wall Decorations, & Mr. Snodgrass' AAA made painted rocks.  Click on 'Read more' for pictures.

CANCELLED - Special Olympics Tournament

The Special Olympics Basketball Tournament scheduled for Saturday, January 6, has been cancelled due to the cold temperatures predicted.


Thank you to everyone who contributed to #MaroonManiacs Christmas for Kids.  This service learning project taught the students not only how to organize a project this big, how to raise funds and how to talk to local businesses, but also the true meaning of the holiday season, GIVING. 

We would like to give a special shout out to Wagner Metal LLC, the UAW #211 Women’s Committee, the Paulding Elementary Staff and to all of the Middle School students and staff who participated in iPod Day. Give Kids a Smile Day

The Ohio Dental Association, in conjunction with the Dental Center of Northwest Ohio, will be honoring ‘Give Kids a Smile Day’ by providing FREE dental services for kids un­der the age of 18, on February 2, 2018.  If you are interested  in signing your child up for free dental services, please complete this form or call Beth Stoller, the school nurse, at 419-399-4656 ext. 1315 to request a form. The deadline to register is January January 19, 2018.

Christmas for Kids - Service Learning Project

The 7th grade team, #MaroonManiacs, are working on a service learning project in collaboration with Christmas for Kids. The students have "adopted" 10 families and are collecting items for "family boxes". Our students are separated into 10 teams, each consisting of six students. Money or items can be donated to the Middle School office and will be greatly appreciated. You may donate until Friday, November 17th. Suggested items: toiletries, non-perishable food items, gift cards, stuffed animals, toys, candy, blankets, mittens, hats, scarves, socks, and money (which will use to buy items after we get their ages and sizes).  Thank you in advance!



A Professional Development Day has been scheduled for Monday, November 27, 2017, therefore school will not be in session for students.

There will be a mandatory College Credit Plus meeting for the 2017-2018 school year on Monday, February 6th at 6:00 pm in the Auditeria.  Any student entering grades 7-12 next year that is interested in participating in the College Credit Plus program must attend the meeting with a parent/guardian.  Any questions may be directed to the High School Guidance office at 419-399-4656 ext 1131.

Caleb Manz - Spelling Bee Champion8th Grader Caleb Manz was the Spelling Bee winner at Paulding Middle School and will compete in the County Spelling Bee on January 30, held at Paulding Middle School.  The winning word was "vengeance".  Second runner up was Haley Manz, 6th grader.

Paulding Elementary students under the guidance of Karen Schlatter, honored our area Veterans on the morning of November 10, 2016.  The students sang songs and also performed a skit.  The High School Band and Choir also entertained the Veterans by singing and playing patriotic songs.

8th Grade Girls Voleyball team

Congratulations to our 8th grade girls Volleyball team who were Northwest Conference Tournament Champions and the Western Division Champs!  The team finished with a 16-2 record.

Growth Mindset Videos

Paulding Middle School students and staff will be participating in Mindset AAAs throughout the school year.  During these AAAs students will learn the value of having a growth mindset, perseverance, and determination; as well as how the brain works, proper nutrition and good study habits.  We feel these are important attributes and skills that are needed for students to have a great school experience.  The video links below will show you what our students and staff viewed during our first Mindset AAA on August 24.

The NOCAC (Northwest Ohio Community Action Commision) will be providing FREE lunches and activites at LaFountain Park (Lincoln St, Paulding, by the pool) from June 6 through August 11, for ages 1-18.

Five PEVS students qualified for the May 14th State Science Fair at The Ohio State Universtiy, by earning Superior ratings at the distrcit competition.


Paulding Middle School students recently raised $244 dollars for the American Heart Association by competing in a free throw shooting contest.  Winners of the free throw shooting contest were Tyrel Goings, Blake McGarvey,Sydney McCullough, and Sadie Estle. 


The Paulding Science Olympiad teams participated in the Northwest Ohio Regional Science Olympiad competition on Saturday, March 19th at BGSU. Schools from Allen, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Hardin, Henry, Lucas, Marion, Ottawa, Paulding, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Van Wert, Wood, Williams, and Wyandot counties vied for the top four spots and a chance to move on to the State competition. Both the Paulding High School and Paulding Middle School teams placed 4th overall and both qualified for State Competition in April at OSU in Columbus.

The 8th grade team "Proud Panthers" provided and filled Christmas stockings for soldiers with items such as sunblock, puzzle books and assorted food items.  The stockings will be sent to soldiers serving overseas.  The 'Stocking for Soldiers' is sponsored by Den Herder Funeral Home.

A mini-relay was held at PEVS on May 26, 2015.  Students enjoyed the afternoon by walking the track and playing games.  All donations will go to the American Cancer Society.  Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this event possible!


Paulding High School Science students competed on May 16th at Ohio State University.  The students won many individual awards as well as the prestigious Harold C. Shaw Award for outstanding team.  Only eight high schools in Ohio were awarded this trophy!

A public hearing on the school calendar, required per R.C. 3313.48(B), including a presentation by Superintendent Hanak on the total number of hours in the school year, length of school day, and beginning and end of dates of instruction in the calendar for 2015-2016 will be held on Tuesday, April 21 at the regular school board meeting.  The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. and will be held in the Oakwood Elementary cafeteria.


The Paulding Science Olympiad teams competed at the State Science Olympiad competition held at The Ohio State University in Columbus on Saturday, April 11, 2015.  The Division B team placed 28th and the Division C team placed 29th overall.

Saturday, March 14, Paulding High School and Middle School students competed at the District Science Day at Ohio Northern University.  The High School students won the team award for most Superiors and qualified ten students for State Science Day which will be held in May at Ohio State. 


Paulding High School and Middle School students compete and place at the Regional Science Fair held at Northwest State Community College on February 28. 


Congratulations to our Science Olympiad teams who competed in the Regional Science Olympiad competition held Saturday, February 28th at B.G.S.U.  The Division B team captured the second place trophy!  Both Division B and Division C ranked high enough to qualify for the State Science Olympiad competition to be held at OSU in Columbus in April.

Physicals for athletic participants will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the high school by Dr. Kuhn.  The cost of the physicals will be $15, payable to Paulding County Hospital.  The schedule of physicals is as follows:

If any student cannot come at the scheduled time, or would like to come with a sibling, they can come anytime from 8:00-11:00 a.m. or 12:30-3:00 p.m.

Paulding Middle School will follow the schedule below for administering the Ohio Achievement Tests.

April 25, 2012  - Reading to grades 6,7,8
April 27, 2012 - Math to grades 6,7,8
May 1, 2012 - Science to grade 8

To ensure the best results on these tests, I am asking for parental help with the following:

1.   Make sure your child gets a good night's sleep the night before testing.
2.   Make sure your child eats a solid breakfast before coming to school on test day.
3.   Make sure you instill in them that these tests are VERY IMPORTANT and that they
      need to take them very seriously.
4.   Make sure they come to school on testing dates.  research shows that students
      test better when they take them with their classmates.

Remote learning Thanksgiving week only Online Learning

Paulding Exempted Village Schools will be using our remote learning format on Monday, November 23rd, and Tuesday, November 24th.  Students will not be attending school in person; instead, instruction will be received remotely from home.  During this time, PEVS teachers will be working from their classrooms all day and will be available from 8-10:00 each morning to answer emails and/or phone calls.  Students will operate on a two-hour delay schedule meaning they will start their remote learning from home at 10:00.  Teachers will instruct students through Google Classroom using ZOOM, recorded lessons, and posted activities and assessments following their established class schedule.  Students are required to complete and submit all assigned activities and assessments by the stated deadline to receive credit.

Operation Gratitude

The seventh grade students have been participating in a service learning project for the past 3 months. They collected items that will be donated for care packages for soldiers through Operation Gratitude. As the project wrapped up today, the 7th grade students collected a total of 1866 items. Awesome job 7th grade students!

Every month our teacher teams select one male and one female student of the month.  Each student's picture was taken and posted on the office windows, and they received a $25 gift card of their choice.


Paulding Middle School students participated in Bullying Prevention World Day on October 6, 2014 by wearing something BLUE to school.  World Bullying Prevention Day is sponsored by STOMPOUTBULLYING.ORG .  The students were encouraged to wear the color blue to show their support and also take part in random acts of kindness, complimenting others, lending a helping hand, and even just smiling at someone new.

Girls in grades 4-6 had the opportunity to learn basketball fundamentals along with having some fun during a week long basketball camp.  High school coaches and players did a great job of teaching and coaching the future Paulding Panthers. The girls will be playing in vaious leagues and tournaments throughout the winter.



Shown in the picture is Paulding Middle School student Gerald Hartzell. Gerald received a $10 Dairy Queen gift card for receiving Paulding Middle School's Most Passionate Award for the second nine weeks. Paulding Middle School would like to thank Mr. Phil Romero and Mrs. Angie Wiswell for nominating Gerald for this award.

Pride Card Winners Pride Card Winners

Shown in the picture are students from Paulding Middle School who received Paulding Pride cards during the month of October. Students earn these cards by going above and beyond what is normally expected from a student at Paulding Middle School.


The Paulding Middle School After School Program is open every Monday and Wednesday that school is in session, for students in grades 6-8.  The time is 3:00-4:15 and students need to report to Mrs. Moore's room on the days that they are staying.

Students from Paulding Middle School participated in the 1st annual Paulding Middle School Service Learning Day on Friday, October 9.  All 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade students were involved in two service learning opportunities- at the Paulding Schools campus in the morning and around the Paulding Community in the afternoon.   In the picture below, Paulding Middle School 7th Graders are removing stone around the fence at the Paulding Skate Park.
