Update from Governor Mike Dewine

Ohio’s students are the next generation of innovators. We must give them every opportunity to explore, discover, & learn. We all have a role in keeping schools open, and by making safe choices, we can prevent #COVID19 from reaching the classroom.

Our school community appreciates everyone’s efforts to keep each other safe. Let’s continue this commitment to healthy practices as we approach the holiday season. It’s up to all of us to slow the spread of #MasksOnOhio #InThisTogetherOhio.

COVID-19 cases continue to increase across Paulding County, and the upcoming holidays create a risk that this will continue.

  • Most people are doing a good job at school and work, but the things we do at home around our friends and family are just as important to prevent COVID-19.
  • If we’re smart, we can enjoy the holidays and drive cases down, because we know how to effectively reduce the spread of the virus.
  • Find tips from the CDC about how families can safely enjoy the holidays here:

The Paulding Elementary students have been working on various “Dia de los Muertos” (Day of the Dead) projects.  The students have been learning about the holiday, which originated from Mexico, where they honor their loved ones whom have passed away, and celebrate their lives. 4th graders made glittery sugar skull drawings, then made one out of clay and glazed.  5th graders made decorated full skeleton drawings, labeled the bones, and added a Spanish greeting.  3rd graders added to the displays by creating tissue paper flowers.

Paulding County Schools’ Reopening Statement

PLEASE CLICK ON READ MORE at the bottom for the full article.

Preface:  All Ohio schools were ordered to close on March 16, 2020 by Governor DeWine and the Ohio Department of Health Director in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  On July 2, 2020 Governor DeWine released the Reset & Restart Planning Guide for all schools in Ohio.  The following statement from the Paulding County Schools’ was created with those recommendations in mind.  This statement is a result of extensive collaboration amongst the three Paulding County Schools, Western Buckeye ESC, and the Paulding County Board of Health.  All parties involved agree that the first priority in reopening schools’ is to make certain our students and staff members are in a safe learning environment.

Paulding County Schools’ reopening is subject to change throughout the school year during the COVID-19 pandemic.  If mandated, districts are preparing to implement alternative learning environments.

Grant for Paulding 1 st Grade Agriculture Adventures Program

The Paulding Agriculture Education program receives a grant from the Paulding Area
Foundation for their new 1 st Grade Agriculture Adventures Program. High School students in the
livestock class are partnering with the 1 st grade students at Paulding Elementary to teach the
youth about livestock. This new program is called Ag Adventures and will focus on teaching the
students about livestock raised in Paulding County. This program will begin by talking to 1 st
graders about swine. The high school students would go down to the 1st-grade classrooms and
do a presentation, a fun activity and read the students a book about swine. This will allow our
high school students to interact with younger students and share their knowledge learned in
the classroom with them through hands-on activities. This program will align with the 1st-grade
science standards that focus on mammals, animal needs and their habitats. After the fun
activities and reading each 1st-grade student would receive their very own copy of the book to
take home and share their livestock knowledge with their families. The goal of this project is for
the elementary students to learn more about Paulding County’s agriculture and livestock industry
while enhancing their literacy through the gift of a book. Paulding Ag department is very
excited about this program and appreciate the support of the Paulding Area Foundation to help
our student advocate for agriculture and teach younger generations about the importance of

Teachers Sendoff Students on Last Day

The last day of school features an annual tradition at Paulding Elementary: the staff sendoff to students as they depart on the buses after school. Staff and students always look forward to the end of the year, but it's always a little bittersweet as we wave goodbye for the summer.

The Paulding Soil & Water Conservation District is proud to partner with Paulding Exempted Village Schools on a multi-year tree planting and landscaping project at the Paulding School campus! We were approached by Paulding Elementary Principal Greg Puthoff about planting a windbreak for their playground and the project blossomed from there to include trees all around the school grounds. Trees will not only help to serve as a windbreak but to help beautify the school grounds and provide students with a cool, inviting place to find some shade during their time outdoors! As part of this project, wildflower plots will also be placed in spots too narrow for trees, in an attempt to provide habitat and shelter for our ever important pollinators!
