Principal's Message

OUR VISION and MISSION:  With the unwavering expectation that every child can make positive academic and social growth, the Oakwood Elementary community provides a safe, caring environment for students to develop skills to meet life's challenges as life-long learners and responsible, productive citizens.

 September 2018

Hello from the Principal's Office at Oakwood Elementary!

We have had an outstanding start to the 2018-2019 school year. It has been exciting to see students come back to school with a positive attitude, ready to learn and grow!

We have a few staff changes at Oakwood Elementary this fall.  Mrs. Kylee Limber has joined our 5th/6th grade team and is teaching English Language Arts, and Mr. Chuck Schroeder has rejoined our staff from PHS and is teaching Phys. Ed.  In addition, PEVS has employed resource officers at both campuses this year.  We welcome Officer Gary Smiddy to Oakwood Elementary to manage our safety and security.

At Oakwood Elementary, we work hard to create a positive learning environment where children grow in academics and in character development.  Ohio's Learning Standards are at the core of our teachers' units, lessons, and assessments.  Hard work in planning and delivering quality instruction has paid off as we are excited to post that we passed 8 of the 9 Ohio's State Assessments taken in grade 3-6 during the Spring months of 2018.  Along with a strong focus on academic education, we feature a new character trait each month to promote character development.  We strive to make a positive impact in the life of each child who enters our school, as we look forward to seeing them become productive citizens in our community.

If you have questions about your child's education, please contact your child's teacher or the school office.  Children always do better when they know everyone is working together to support and care for them.
