Update from Governor Mike Dewine

Ohio’s students are the next generation of innovators. We must give them every opportunity to explore, discover, & learn. We all have a role in keeping schools open, and by making safe choices, we can prevent #COVID19 from reaching the classroom.

Our school community appreciates everyone’s efforts to keep each other safe. Let’s continue this commitment to healthy practices as we approach the holiday season. It’s up to all of us to slow the spread of #MasksOnOhio #InThisTogetherOhio.

  • Most people are doing a good job at school and work, but the things we do at home around our friends and family are just as important to prevent COVID-19.
  • If we’re smart, we can enjoy the holidays and drive cases down, because we know how to effectively reduce the spread of the virus.

Remote learning Thanksgiving week only Online Learning

Paulding Exempted Village Schools will be using our remote learning format on Monday, November 23rd, and Tuesday, November 24th.  Students will not be attending school in person; instead, instruction will be received remotely from home.  During this time, PEVS teachers will be working from their classrooms all day and will be available from 8-10:00 each morning to answer emails and/or phone calls.  Students will operate on a two-hour delay schedule meaning they will start their remote learning from home at 10:00.  Teachers will instruct students through Google Classroom using ZOOM, recorded lessons, and posted activities and assessments following their established class schedule.  Students are required to complete and submit all assigned activities and assessments by the stated deadline to receive credit.

Thanksgiving Tips from Paulding County Health Dept. Thanksgiving 2020

Thanksgiving is a time when many families travel long distances to celebrate together. Travel increases the chance of getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others. If you must travel, be informed of the risks involved.

Oakwood Elementary practiced our Safe Schools Drills during the week of September 25-29.  Over the course of the week, we practiced a fire drill followed by an organized evacuation to our safe location, a severe weather drill, a rear bus evacuation drill, and an A.L.I.C.E. evacuation to our initial rally points.  Before we began each drill, we talked about the safety procedure and when it might be necessary to actually conduct each procedure.  Our hope is that we will never need to activate these safety procedures; however, we know that by practice we will be better prepared should the unthinkable happen.  Here our students are practicing the rear bus evacuation.bus evac 3
