The school shooting on Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary School was a terrible tragedy. As we prepare to return to school, students and parents may be experiencing a wide range of emotions and questions. Keeping children in a routine is a good way to alleviate fears and let them know they are safe. There are also resources to help parents and teachers deal with anxiety from tragedies such as this school shooting. The School Social Work Association of America (SSWAA) website offers good information on helping children cope with tragedy.
