We would like to wish Sandy Dobbelaere good luck as she travels to Frankenmuth on January 24 to once again participate in Zehnder’s Snowfest. Sandy has attended this event since 2003 and participates in the national competition. The festival also includes international teams, high school teams and special guest sculptors. Typically approximately 150,000-200,000 people converge on Frankenmuth to witness this spectacular event, including some of our own staff members. Sandy’s team this year includes her daughter Kinsey and niece Megan. They will start with two 10’ by 10’ blocks of snow this year, working Wednesday through Saturday chipping and sculpting, sometimes all night long. The sculpture must be completed by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, when judging will begin. The ceremony to announce the winners will begin at 2:00 p.m. The festivities run through Monday, January 30st.
Previous awards received by Sandy and her team were 4th Place award in the International Division, World Class 1st Place, World Class Single People's Choice, 1st place in the United States People's Choice, 2nd and 3rd place in the United States Snow Carving Competition.
Good luck to Sandy and her team!
